EHS Support developed an environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) management system and provided strategic compliance and auditing support for a Quebec‑based North American leader in natural stone extraction, fabrication, and distribution operating quarrying, processing, and manufacturing facilities across Canada and the United States. The engagement supported high‑hazard industrial activities, including mining, materials handling, heavy mobile equipment, explosives, fabrication shops, and logistics.
Since the client was a multi‑site, regulated industrial organization operating across multiple jurisdictions, services focused on embedding EH&S compliance into day‑to‑day operations, strengthening safety culture, and improving operational efficiency while reducing regulatory and incident risk.
Our complete scope of services delivered to the client included the following:
- Designing and planning the phased implementation of a company‑wide health and safety management system (HSMS)
- Assessing the company’s regulatory compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), Vermont Occupational Safety and Health Administration (VOSHA), and applicable provincial requirements, including Quebec and Ontario gap analyses
- Developing corporate EH&S policies, governance frameworks and site‑level implementation tools
- Creating a high‑hazard program covering explosives management, mobile equipment, confined spaces, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, and emergency response
- Establishing incident reporting systems, investigation protocols, and performance scorecards
- Conducting environmental, workplace safety, and management systems auditing
- Supporting continuous improvement, worker engagement, and leadership accountability
The program reduced regulatory and incident risk, improved consistency and standardization across operations, enhanced data‑driven decision-making through improved tracking and metrics, and delivered a scalable, field‑tested EH&S framework that aligned with the operational realities of heavy industrial and mining environments.
