EHS Support was retained to provide a comprehensive environmental site assessment and remediation management services for a complex contaminated land remediation project at a Quebec‑based industrial manufacturing facility with historical soil and groundwater impacts associated with long‑term industrial activities. Facilities and operational areas include enclosed industrial buildings, concrete basins, overhead cranes, and adjacent active production areas.
The engagement spanned Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) through active remediation, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance, contractor coordination, health and safety oversight, and execution within tight operational and schedule constraints.
Our full scope of services included the following:
- Conducting a Phase I ESA, a Phase II ESA, and remediation planning and coordination
- Preparing assessment plans, investigation reports, and regulatory documentation
- Managing remediation activities within an active industrial facility
- Overseeing excavation and source removal within an interior work zone beneath concrete structures and basins.
- Coordinating with client representatives, tenants, contractors, and engineers
- Providing health and safety oversight, including developing and implementing site‑specific health and safety plans
- Managing contaminated soil, groundwater, concrete, and residual waste handling and disposal
- Coordinating sampling events, data review, and contaminated soil traceability in accordance with Quebec regulations
- Participating in daily and weekly progress meetings and resolving field issues in real time
Remediation focused on controlled source removal within defined work zones under tight operational and schedule constraints, with careful coordination to maintain structural integrity and uninterrupted operations. The project was completed safely and successfully, achieving effective contamination management, strong coordination among client, contractors, and regulators, and positive client recognition for technical leadership and project delivery.
